Our Story
The beginning of Stone Age London
Growing up everything had at its core the natural world with its animals and plants, trees, rocks, and dust under our feet. Having all this inspiration growing up, love for nature and more importantly having the right guidance to respect the nature and the Planet, Stone Age London was founded.
Stone Age London is a paying tribute to my late grandmother, and a homage to her many unique crafts.
Here is a photo of my beloved grandmother posing with some black locust tree flowers, just after she picked some wild dandelion leaves for a spring salad.
(She really loved flowers)

I was always enthralled by her crafts and how resourceful she was; from making a good deal of soap for the whole family right in our back garden, to cooking dozens of kilos of jams and preserves, picking and drying flowers and herbs for teas or ailments, to crocheting woolly socks and gloves, she did it all with love. These crafts and skills have been a tradition that has been passed down through generations in our family but also a very important self-sufficiency must, living in a former Soviet country.
I still remember how my grandmother would form a clique with her sisters and neighbouring friends helping each other to render animal fats, mainly lard mixed with vegetable fats, adding aromas and medicinal herbs we freshly picked to make natural soaps that filled the air with a pleasant herbal scent. I wasn’t allowed to be near the boiling cauldron, so I watched in fascination as she worked her magic and created something that was truly special, as she laughed she always used to say: "One day you'll remember what this old hag taught you and all the funny things she used to say".
Years later, after my grandmother had passed away, my father knew her recipe, a well-guarded family secret and passed it on to me. I was able to make my own homemade soaps just like my grandmother. I am proud to continue and keep her traditions alive, knowing that I am upholding a legacy that had been in my family for many generations.

Our products are made in small batches, many of which are made to order, and we are always working to reduce our waste and become more eco-friendly. This is why we believe that the so-called ‘luxury’ and ‘fancy’ packaging is really overrated, and that it is much better to reduce our use of plastic and chemicals and increase the use of recyclable, biodegradable, or compostable materials.
We would love to thank you for reading our story and for supporting us, believing in our values and being part of our journey.
Warmest wishes,
